Training courses

Not only do we wish to reach foundries but also firms that they cooperate with. We would also like to present it to the foundry recipients who are not knowledgeable enough in the field and it enables them to start the talks with the castings’ providers on the same level.

We offer you professional trainings in the field of casting processes and casting-related subjects e.g. metallurgy, heat treatment, quality management in the casting production, and also Lean Manufacturing tools.

It is possible to make online trainings as well as trainings on premises, but based on our experience we need to admit that meetings face to face can achieve better results.

We are in favour of so called ‘closed trainings’ which are the ones that are tailor-made for a particular client, and due to this you can find a couple of proposals of such meetings on our site. If you are interested in a training drop us a line so we could create a specific one based on your needs. Each course could be carried out on elementary as well as more advanced level and it lasts 2-3 days in general. We organize trainings in our client’s premises or other specified places of your choice.

Each trainee gets the scripts from the tailor-made presentation. After the training all the participants are to sit a short test that will check the skills and knowledge acquired during the session, and then everybody gets a certificate of attendance.

IMPORTANT: the training may also be conducted in English.


Examples of a 3-day training course:

1. Casting technologies. These include:

  • introduction to the subject of casting as one of the basic techniques to make machine parts;
  • contemporary state and the future outline of a casting production in Poland and across the world;
  • classification of casting technologies including processes based on green moulding sand in particular;
  • casting manufacturing processes from their time on the drawing board till the final processing;
  • methods of moulding and casting core making;
  • practical activities of how to make a two-halve mould of silica moulding sand;
  • an overview of casting defects: it’s shape, raw surface, discontinuities and other internal defects;
  • criteria of casting acceptance;
  • health and safety at the metal foundry.

2. Basic casting alloys and their melting process. These include:

  • division of casting alloys – ferrous alloys and non-ferrous ones;
  • tendencies in development and purpose of modern casting alloys (cast iron, ADI, vermicular cast iron, nickel superalloys, aluminium alloys, shell casting etc.);
  • types of foundry furnaces and melting processes in them: electric, electric arc furnaces and induction furnaces, cupola furnaces, gas furnaces and others;
  • charge measure for smelting – practical exercises;
  • health and safety in melting processes, liquid alloy transportation and processing of casting moulds;

3. Modern casting technologies. These include:

  • tendencies in casting across the world;
  • automatic vertical and horizontal flask or flaskless moulding lines;
  • gravity permanent casting and low pressure casting;
  • high pressure die casting;
  • casting technologies in connection with other available technologies (squeeze casting, rheocasting, hybrid casting of metal-plastic material etc.);
  • precise mould casting using the investment casting method;
  • the elements of robotisation of casting processes.

4. Casting defects and ways to prevent them. These include:

    • classification of casting defects;
    • the standards of casting defects and the quality of castings;
    • criteria of casting acceptance;
    • defects in a shape;
    • defects on the raw surface;
    • discontinuities and other internal defects;
    • ways of preventing defects from happening, for instance:
      1. -the influence of the moulding sand on the quality of a casting,
      2. -the influence of the liquid metal and its parametres on the intensity of defects,
      3. -the influence of casting mould geometry on the defects frequency,
      4. -the process of solidifying and cristallisation of a casting and it’s impact on the internal defects.
    • the computer assisted process of making castings as a tool to provide flawless results of the finished products.

5. Resource and foundry waste management. These include:

  • a resource flow in the foundry;
  • Best Available Technology (BAT) for the foundry business;
  • requirements for handling the foundry waste;
  • methods of used moulding sand reclamation – the usage, advantages and disadvantages;
  • cutting-edge methods for cutting down the usage of certain resources in elementary processes and casting technologies, for instance:
    1. - monitoring the usage of the melting furnace lining;
    2. - reducing the energy usage in the process of melting casting alloys;
    3. - modern methods of pouring of the castings and feeding processes resulting in cutting down the amount of liquid metal enhancing the outcome;
  • ways of foundry waste disposal in the foundry premises and other branches of economy.
